Constraints drive good ideas

Unconstrained creativity leaves the page blank — get specific.

Please — paint me a picture:

Pick a paper. Pick a brush. Go. → Stuck.

Pick a pearl. Pick an ocean. Go. → Stuck.

Pick a colour. Pick a rush. Go → Hm.

Pick a pig. Pick emotion. Go → Unstuck.

If you’re stuck, you don’t have enough of the boundaries identified. Explore where they are and make them explicit. If needed, create arbitrary constraints. Easy constraints to introduce are time, money, and effort. This is the reason most project work occurs immediately prior to a deadline.
